£42m for the last phase of hospital refurbishment

A HEALTH board has been awarded £42m of funding for further refurbishments at a busy hospital.
Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board secured the funding to deliver the final phase of refurbishment at Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil.
The first phase of refurbishment was confirmed in 2020, with the latest investment, awarded in February, being used to deliver the third and final phase of the transformation that “will ultimately see the hospital effectively rebuilt from the inside out”.
It is modernising a wide range of essential clinical and support services that are critical to the smooth running of a major acute hospital.
