US not imposing visa ban on Pakistan, clarifies minister

Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik on Thursday dismissed concerns regarding any restrictions on Pakistan under the United States visa policy, clarifying that no such ban is being imposed.

In an exclusive interview with a private television channel, Malik stated that the US government is currently reviewing its visa policies as part of broader efforts to strengthen border security and national protection measures. However, he emphasised that these changes are not targeted at any specific country, including Pakistan.

“The US State Department has made it clear that no country is being subjected to an indiscriminate visa ban. The review process is solely aimed at enhancing security measures,” Malik asserted.

Malik reassured that Pakistan is actively engaged in diplomatic discussions and is taking necessary steps to ensure that the country’s interests are safeguarded.

“Pakistan's diplomatic efforts remain ongoing to address any concerns and maintain smooth relations with the international community,” he added.

In a separate development, Pakistan has categorically denied reports of US visa restrictions, calling them mere speculation with no basis in reality.
