UAE rout Oman, Nissanka leads Lanka to win over Hong Kong

Skipper Muhammad Waseem and Alishan Sharafu slammed attacking half-centuries to power the UAE to a commanding 42-run victory over Oman in the Asia Cup on Monday.

Waseem's 69 and Sharafu's 51 laid the foundation with an 88-run opening partnership, helping UAE post a competitive 172-5 in Abu Dhabi.
The home bowlers then dominated, skittling Oman for 130 in just 18.4 overs to secure their first win of the T20 tournament.
Medium-pacer Junaid Siddique led the charge with impressive figures of 4-23, while Haider Ali and Muhammad Jawadullah chipped in with two wickets apiece.
Elsewhere, Pathum Nissanka smashed a blitzkrieg fifty to lead Sri Lanka to a labouring four-wicket victory over Hong Kong after a late wobble in their Asia Cup match on Monday.
Chasing a fighting total of 150, Lanka were off to a breezy start as Nissanka and Kusal Mendis added 26 runs for the first wicket.
The chase was facilitated by the sloppy fielding of Hong Kong. They came into the match with butterfingers and failed to take even the sitters. Hong Kong dropped as many as five catches. Had those catches been held, the result could have been different.
