PTI's Khurram clinches Senate seat in by-poll

Khurram Zeeshan, who had refused to surrender in the last polls for the Upper House of Parliament from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and secured zero votes, returned to the Senate within three months after securing 91 votes in the by-election held on Thursday.

A candidate supported by the ruling Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI), Khurram Zeeshan Advocate received 91 votes against 45 polled for the opposition parties' candidate, Taj Muhammad Afridi, in the by-poll for a Senate seat that had fallen vacant after the disqualification of Shibli Faraz, who was the opposition leader in the Senate, after he was convicted in cases pertaining to the May 9, 2023 riots. He was nominated by PTI founder Imran Khan for the by-poll.
