President witnesses naval drill in Kerala capital

President Droupadi Murmu attended a grand demonstration by the Indian Navy along the Kerala coast on Wednesday, showcasing India’s maritime capabilities on Navy Day.

The event, Op Demo 2025, showcased the Navy's advanced fleet at Shangumugham Beach in the state capital.

A total of 19 major war vessels, including the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, one submarine, and 32 fighter jets, participated in the demonstration.

Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, who hosted the event, emphasised the Navy's commitment to safeguarding national interests. The Navy is expanding Navy Day celebrations beyond major naval stations, following successful events in Puri, Odisha, and Sindhudurg, Maharashtra.
