Mercury hits 50.4°C in UAE, the highest since 2003

ABU DHABI: The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) recorded the highest temperature in the country on Friday, 50.4°C in Al-Shawamekh area of Abu Dhabi at 2:30 pm.
This is the highest temperature recorded since the start of data collection in 2003.
The NCM predicts that the weather on Saturday will be generally clear, with partly cloudy conditions at times in the eastern regions. Winds will be southeasterly, shifting to northwesterly, light to moderate, with speeds ranging from 10 to 20 km/h, amounting to 30 km/h at times and the sea will be calm in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
For Sunday, the weather is expected to be generally clear, with partly cloudy conditions at times in the eastern regions.
