Kerala set to join PM SHRI scheme despite CPI opposition

In a move that has stirred both political and ideological ripples across Kerala’s ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF), the state government has decided to proceed with implementing the Union government's PM SHRI scheme, despite strong objections from its coalition partner, the Communist Party of India (CPI).
The decision marks a pragmatic shift by the administration led by Communist Party of India - Marxist (CPIM), highlighting the growing tension between political ideals and financial realities faced by the state.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan reportedly assured CPI ministers that a detailed discussion would take place on the issue.
However, sources indicate that any such deliberation will likely be confined to bilateral consultations rather than an open debate within the full cabinet.
