Kerala IT sector adds 72,000 jobs in five years

Kerala's information technology sector has recorded unprecedented growth over the past five years, creating more than 72,000 new jobs and tripling its software exports, marking the state's most successful phase in digital development since the launch of Technopark three decades ago.

According to figures released by Kerala IT Parks, the total number of companies operating in the state's three major IT hubs - Technopark in state capital Trivandrum, Infopark in Kochi, and Cyberpark in Kozhikode - has increased from 702 in 2016-17 to 1,163 in 2024-25. Over the same period, direct employment in these parks rose from about 70,000 to more than 142,000, including 72,572 new jobs created between 2019 and 2024.
