Foundation stone laid for Wayanad rehabilitation township

KALPETTA: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday inaugurated the mandate township project to rehabilitate 630 families stuck in the landslide that struck Mundakkai and Chooralmala villages in Wayanad district on 30, July last year, leaving more than 800 dead and scores injured.

Chief Minister unveiled the project plaque before laying the foundation stone of the township at Elstone Estate here on Thursday. Praising the people of Kerala for the selfless relief and rescue operations during the landslide tragedy, the chief minister said that despite financial constraints, the state took up the mission to rehabilitate the landslide survivors with public support. “The people of Kerala proved that nothing could prevent the successful imple mentation of the township project, Kerala’s unity and humanity helped us execute this project. We proved that determination can overcome even the impossible,” said the CM.
