ED’s clean chit to BJP raises eyebrows in Kerala

The chargesheet submitted by the Directorate of Enforcement(ED) absolving Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of any involvement in the infamous Rs361 Kodakkara black money (hawala) case has raised many eyebrows in Kerala.

The charge sheet, filed before the PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) Court in Kochi on Tuesday, makes no mention of the allegations that the Rs 3.56 crore stolen from a car three days before the Kerala Assembly election in April 2021 belonged to BJP election funds, as mentioned in the charge sheet submitted by Kerala police, which investigated the case in the beginning. None of the 22 accused named in the ED’s chargesheet have direct links to the BJP, effectively giving the party a clean chit in the case.
