China and Hong Kong stocks close higher

SHANGHAI: China stocks closed higher on Monday, led by metals, although gains were capped as investors grew cautious about US President Donald Trump's approaching tariff deadline. Hong Kong shares were also up.

China's blue-chip CSI 300 Index ended 0.5 per cent higher, while the Shanghai Composite Index added 0.2 per cent. Hong Kong's benchmark Hang Seng was up 0.9 per cent.
Non-ferrous metals shares rose 1.7 per cent, leading onshore gains, after media reported that China plans to add key metals to state reserves.
