AD Police clarify penalties for jumping red light

Abu Dhabi Police said that Law No. (5) of 2020 regarding the impoundment of vehicles in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi clarified that the violation of a vehicle jumping the red light is Dhs1,000, 12 traffic points, and impounding the vehicle for 30 days.

The police added that the financial value to release the impounded vehicle is Dhs50,000, in addition to the withdrawal of the driver's driving licence for 6 months, starting from the date of the licence withdrawal.

The vehicle will be also impounded until the financial value for releasing it is paid, for a maximum period of three months and in the event of failure to pay the dues, the vehicle will be referred for sale at public auction.

Abu Dhabi Police urged drivers not to be distracted from the road while crossing intersections and traffic lights, and warned of the negative consequences that may occur on the road when the driver is mentally distracted and jumping the traffic light.
