In another blow, US embassy warns against overstaying

The US embassy in India has issued a stern warning to travellers following President Donald Trump's crackdown on illegal immigrants.

"If you remain in the United States beyond your authorised period of stay, you could be deported and could face a permanent ban on travelling to the United States in the future," the embassy said.

Trump has vowed to deport “millions” of undocumented migrants in his second term, after running an election campaign that focused on illegal immigration.

Last month, a federal judge blocked Trump's administration from quickly revoking the legal status of hundreds of thousands of immigrants from Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua and Haiti.
