UAE residents are gearing up for one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

Fresh data from Atlys shows clear preferences shaping December and January plans, with quick regional getaways and extended European holidays leading the season. Recent insights from Expedia help round out the picture, revealing when travellers can secure better rates and which destinations are gaining momentum.

Short-haul favourites

Residents planning shorter trips are sticking to destinations that offer a mix of convenience, culture and winter-friendly weather. Atlys identifies three regional hotspots dominating demand:

■ Egypt stays at the top for travellers who want warmth and world-class attractions without long flights. The Pyramids, Luxor’s temples and Red Sea resorts keep pulling residents back year after year.
