Pregnancy may be a time of wild cravings and mood swings, but it's also one where your body is doing some serious work. Staying active during this time can be one of the best things you do for both yourself and your baby.

Why exercise during pregnancy?

Contrary to the age-old belief that expectant mothers should rest and avoid exertion, research now shows the benefits of staying active. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends regular physical activity during healthy, uncomplicated pregnancies, including moderate-intensity aerobic exercise each week.

The benefits are hard to ignore. Regular movement can help reduce backaches, improve sleep, boost mood, and even lower the risk of gestational diabetes and preeclampsia.
