Property management company demands she remove animals or vacate by October 2
Aisha Rashid earns just Dh7,000 a month, but has neutered around 150 cats over six years using her own money.
Pakistani expat Aisha Rashid, who is caring for 65 rescued cats in a Dubai apartment, is facing eviction on October 2 after her property management company demanded she remove all the animals, or vacate.
"I started feeding the cats during Covid," the 39-year-old told Gulf News. "There was a lady who used to feed the stray cats. She went to her country and asked me to feed them in her absence." However, when the woman returned after five months, she refused to continue.
"We were feeding the cats for five months, they were literally waiting for us. So, my mother and I continued to take care of them," Aisha said.
