Work begins to remove asbestos at town library

BUILDING HAS BEEN CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC SINCE MARCH

- By MARK PAGE

WORK is beginning this week to bring the Grimsby Central Library building back into use.

North East Lincolnshire Council says that, while the popup library opened earlier this month in Freshney Place, continued use of the building in Town Hall Square "has always been a consideration for the library's long-term future".

The Central Library has been closed to the public since March due to a water leak posing a risk of asbestos disturbance.

The first phase of work over the spring and summer involved moving the library's contents and local history collection into safe storage.
