Aggrieved family has sought intervention of LG, CM for justice
A family of Tangmarg has urged the government to conduct an impartial probe into the felling of their fruit-bearing trees allegedly by some officers on Monday. Ina statement, Abdul Jabbar Khan, a resident of Tangmarg, along with his family, said that they have been resentful of the felling of trees on their land.
"I submit that our family shares a land boundary with a politician. On this land, there stood more than fifty-year-old trees, deeply rooted in our soil and even more profoundly in our hearts, providing economic sustenance to my family. For years, the politician and his family had repeatedly pressurised us through different means to chop down the trees, citing threats of damage, an allegation devoid of merit. We responded with reason and dignity, pointing out that some of their trees in reality posed risks to us. We requested a mutual and peaceful solution, asking for any dangerous trees, if any, on both sides to be removed. But our voice was silenced by power and position," Khan said.
