Humbled History teacher Dave in the running for major award

A HISTORY teacher from Gloucester says he is "very humbled" after being named one of the best teachers in his subject across the UK.
The charity Historic Royal Palaces (HRP), which manages six iconic locations including Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace and Kensington Palace, announced the top 10 shortlist for its inaugural Inspiring History Teaching Awards - and among them is Dave Slaughter, 38, who has taught history at St Peter's RC High School on Stroud Road in Gloucester for 15 years, and is now head of the department.
He said: "It has been a very humbling experience, I don’t think it has fully sunk in yet.
"This all came about when one of my Year 13s went to the Tower of London over the summer and saw a banner for the Historic Royal Palaces awards. She then came back to school and told me she had nominated me, which I was really humbled by.
