Soaring cost of renting homes across county

Rent prices have increased by thousands of pounds a year on average in parts of Somerset.

It cost an average of £1,736 a month to rent a home privately in Bath and North East Somerset in the year to April 2025.

That's up by £188 compared with a year earlier, an increase of 12.1%, according to the latest figures from the Land Registry. That’s more than three times the current rate of inflation (3.5%) and is one of the highest percentage increases in the whole of the UK with just 15 other council areas experiencing a larger hike.
