Paulton Rovers could be facing a tough task in the FA Cup this season after they had been drawn at home to Hamble Club in the extra preliminary round.

Paulton handed a tough draw in cup

Kieran Baggs’ side will be harnessing promotion ambitions in this Western League campaign, however Hamble will likely have their own aspirations after losing in playoffs in the Wessex League Premier Division last season.

The tantalising tie at Winterfield Road will take place on August 2.

Frome Town will enter the competition at the preliminary round stage on August 16 and will host the winners of newly-promoted Western League Premier Division side Newquay or fellow Western League outfit Shepton Mallet - who used to be managed be new Frome coach Craig Loxton.

If Paulton make it through, they will travel to either Wessex League side AFC Stoneham or Combined Counties outfit Fleet Town.

The draw for the FA Trophy has also been made and will see Frome travel to Bashley in the preliminary round on August 23. Should they win that, Frome will then head to Winchester City in the first round qualifying on September 6.

In the FA Vase, Welton Rovers will begin life in Division One of the Western League with a home first round qualifying tie against Torridgeside who ply their trade in the South West Peninsula League.

Radstock Town will also face South West Peninsula League competition with a trip to Camelford.

Paulton have been given a bye into the second qualifying round, which takes place on September 20. They will travel to the winners of Ilminster Town and Callington Town.

Should Welton win their tie, they will be at home once more against Western League Premier Division side Shepton Mallet. Radstock will welcome Honiton Town to Southfields if they get through.
