Dramatic weekend sees Timsbury enjoy best day of the season so far

In a weekend full of drama, Timsbury enjoyed its best day of the season with another nail-biting win for the first team, a thrilling run-chase for the second side, and an amazing fightback from the third team to claim an exciting tie.
-
Timsbury left it until the very last ball of the match before achieving a two-wicket win at Keynsham 2nd in Division One of the Bristol & District League. The highlight was an outstanding all-round display from Kev Sibley.
After Keynsham had made a solid start, Sibley (4-31) produced a fine spell of seam bowling in his eight overs after Keynsham eventually reached 159-8. Jez Hare also claimed a couple of late wickets after a number of Keynsham players got starts without being unable to build on them.
Timsbury then encountered similar problems and, at 103-6, were very much on the back-foot. A crucial partnership between Sibley and Cory Versfeld (20) gave hope but, when two wickets fell on 137, Keynsham again became the favourites.
Sibley, however, remained composed and, together with Sam Hoddinott, took the visitors home with a boundary off the final ball to finish unbeaten on 31. In such a closely fought contest, Keynsham may well look back on the 22 wides they conceded compared to Timsbury’s six.
■CHILCOMPTON SPORTS entertained Chew Valley and were invited to bat on a warm sunny day at the CSG.
Glen Stansfield and Dan Rogers took on the new ball, but the latter was the first to depart in the tenth over while Tom Hancock looked in good touch on a run-a-ball 17 until he missed a straight full toss. Ben Futcher joined Stansfield as he began to up the ante to bring Chili to 92-2 at drinks.
Looking at a 200-plus score, and with Stansfield reaching a superb half-century, the 112-run stand was stopped when Futcher (39) was juggled on the boundary before finally being caught.
Stansfield followed an over later for a superb 83, bringing skipper Adam Deverill (39) and Tim Fussell (26) together to put on a breezy 60 as Chili reached 244-5.
