A delegation of around 40 members from the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) visited Jaipur on Saturday for a dedicated sightseeing tour, marking the first time the historic Pink City has been chosen as the principal post-conference venue.

Until now, such cultural excursions following the CSPOC meetings in India were traditionally scheduled for Agra, with the Taj Mahal as the key destination. This year, however, Jaipur's rich heritage, architectural legacy and deep historical connections with Delhi and the broader history of Rajasthan drew official focus as part of an effort to showcase India's diverse cultural tapestry to visiting parliamentarians.

By elevating Jaipur as a venue of international parliamentary engagement, Lok Sabha Speaker and chair of 28th CSPOC - Om Birla - has helped highlight India's cultural depth on a global stage, reinforcing his expanding stature in legislative diplomacy. The decision to bring the CSPOC delegation to Jaipur was not merely an exercise in tourism planning but a carefully shaped institutional initiative, driven by Birla in close coordination with the parliamentary and state administration. The effort reflected a larger vision to align India's parliamentary diplomacy with the country's evolving global image.
