ADDITIONAL CHARGE TO IAS OFFICERS
Assigning additional charges to IAS officers has become a routine practice for the Department of Personnel (DoP).
According to experts, as many as 28 IAS officers are holding additional responsibilities as on day. Some of these charges are seen as impractical and illogical (First India, 8 June).
A striking example is that of Hemant Gera, a senior IAS officer from the 1997 batch and currently Chairman of the Board of Revenue. He holds additional charge of the Administrator of the Board of Secondary Education in Ajmer. In addition to this, he has been given the charge of Divisional Commissioner, Ajmer.
