Unheralded pacer Akash Deep delivered a dream performance as India crushed England by 336 runs at Edgbaston on Sunday, breaking a 58-year-old jinx at the venue and leveling the five-Test series 1-1.

With Jasprit Bumrah rested, the 28-year-old from Bihar stepped up in stunning fashion, claiming a match haul of 10 wickets, including a maiden five-for (6/99) in the second innings.

Shubman Gill, leading in place of Rohit Sharma, starred with the bat, scoring 269 and 161 in a record-breaking match.

But Akash's fiery spell on a flat pitch was equally instrumental. England, chasing a massive 608, were bowled out for 271.
