Sebi chief hints at piloting pre-IPO trading platform

SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE Board of India (Sebi) chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey on Thursday suggested the idea of a pre-IPO share trading platform. The proposed move may come as a big blow to the grey market for unlisted companies.

"Think of an initiative, on a pilot basis for a regulated venue where pre-IPO companies can choose to trade, subject to certain disclosures," Pandey said at the FICCI Capital Market Summit in Mumbai.

With a booming IPO market, investors are eagerly anticipating what's next, he said. "Yet pre-listing information is often not enough for investors to make an investment decision," he added.
