Despite global economic challenges, trade between India and Saudi Arabia has continued to grow, with energy, agriculture, and fertilizers emerging as key sectors of cooperation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in an interview to Arab News during his two-day visit to the country.

Modi, who is in Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, said, "Indian companies have also maintained a strong presence across various sectors in Saudi Arabia," adding that both sides are looking to deepen ties in emerging sectors such as green hydrogen and advanced technologies.

The Prime Minister highlighted that discussions on a bilateral investment treaty (BIT) are underway and that the proposed free trade agreement between India and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) could reshape the region's economic dynamics.

This marks Modi's third visit to Saudi Arabia since 2016. He noted that bilateral ties have expanded substantially since the establishment of the Strategic Partnership Council in 2019, describing the Kingdom as "a trusted friend and strategic ally". Modi and the Crown Prince will co-chair the Council's second meeting during the visit.
