US-Japan trade deal lifts the investor mood
THE BENCHMARK INDICES rose up to 0.66% on Wednesday, marking their best single-day gain in a month, in line with other Asian equity markets. The investor sentiment was buoyed by the announcement of a trade deal between the US and Japan.
The Sensex climbed 539.83 points, or 0.66%, to close at 82,726.64, while the Nifty gained 159 points, or 0.63%, ending above the 25,200-mark at 25,219.90. Over the last 52 trading sessions, the markets have remained in a consolidation phase, with the indices fluctuating within a narrow range of ±2%.
