DESPITE ABOVE NORMAL temperatures in key growing regions in the last couple of weeks, the prospects of higher wheat output look promising. This is because the crop conditions are robust and sowing area has witnessed a record this season, officials and millers said.

The agriculture ministry has released the second estimate of major crops. As per the ministry's note, the wheat production is projected at a record 115.3 million tonne (MT) during 2024-25 crop year (July-June), an increase of 2% over the previous year.
