Goyal to meet EU team today on FTA progress

A TEAM OF European Union trade negotiators, led by top officials, is in India for talks as both sides approach the final three weeks of a year-end deadline to conclude a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

The visiting EU delegation, headed by Director General for Trade Sabine Weyand, will meet Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday to review progress on the proposed agreement, an official said. While discussions will follow a formal negotiation framework, the talks with Goyal are aimed at accelerating the pace of the deal.

Late last month, Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal said the FTA could be finalised by early 2026.
