AIRBUS EXPECTS AIRCRAFT deliveries to its Indian customers, including IndiGo and the Air India Group, to average nearly two aircraft a week over the next decade, Jurgen Westermeier, President and Managing Director - India and South Asia, Airbus, said on Thursday.

- YARUQHULLAH KHAN

Westermeier said aircraft deliveries to Indian airlines are expected to peak at around 150 planes a year in the coming years. Airbus delivered around 70 aircraft to Indian carriers in 2025.

He added that Airbus currently has about 1,250 aircraft on order from Indian airlines. Presenting the company’s commercial market outlook for India and South Asia, Westermeier said the country will require nearly 35,000 new pilots and an equal number of technicians by 2035 to support aviation growth.
