Govt to buy tur dal as mandi prices fall

AFTER TWO YEARS of elevated prices due to lower output, the government is expected to ramp up procurement of tur dal at the minimum support price (MSP) to build buffer stocks and ensure remunerative prices for farmers.
So far, procurement agencies have purchased 12,335 tonne of tur under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) of the agriculture ministry. The ministry has sanctioned the procurement of 1.32 million tonne (MT) of tur for the 2024-25 season under the PSS for pulses.
