Vi to roll out 5G today, entry plan cheapest

VODAFONE IDEA, THE country's third-largest telecom operator, will commercially launch its 5G services in Mumbai on Wednesday, the company's chief technology officer, Jagbir Singh, told FE.

The company is also in discussions with multiple partners to offer satellite internet services, though Singh declined to share specific details regarding a potential tie-up with Starlink.

Vodafone Idea's introductory unlimited 5G plans will start at ₹299 and above, offering a 14% discount compared to Jio and 21% lower than Bharti Airtel.

In like-to-like comparison, Jio has priced its entry-level unlimited 5G plan at ₹349 for 28 days (2GB 4G data per day) while Airtel offers a similar plan at ₹379 per month (2GB 4G data per day). Vodafone Idea's ₹299 plan currently provides 1GB 4G data per day with a 28-day validity.
