INDIGO ON SUNDAY announced a firm order for 30 more Airbus A350 aircraft, taking its total confirmed wide-body A350 orders to 60.

- PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

This development comes a little over a year after the airline placed its first firm order for 30 A350-900 aircraft in April 2024. At the time, it also secured purchase rights for an additional 70 planes. The latest order converts part of those purchase rights into a firm commitment.

IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said the deliveries for the original 30 aircraft will begin in 2027.

The airline has over 900 aircraft on order. As part of its expansion strategy, IndiGo is increasingly focused on long-haul international operations. The new A350s are expected to support this plan. To support its near-term international expansion, IndiGo began inducting six temporarily leased wide-body Boeing aircraft in March. These aircraft are expected to be delivered by 2026.

The airline is planning to operate flights to 10 new international cities this financial year using these leased Boeing 787 planes.
