Bond yield closes above 6.50% first time in FY26

PRICES OF GOVERNMENT bonds continued their decline for a second session on Tuesday as the proposed overhaul in the GST stoked fears of fiscal slippage, pushing the 10-year yield to end above 6.50% for the first time in this financial year.

The benchmark 10-year bond ended at 6.514%, its highest level since March 28, and up from Monday's close of 6.4968%. On Monday, the yield logged its biggest single-day rise in 22 months.
