Virtual twins are advanced digital replicas of a physical asset, process, or system, that allow users to model, simulate, and optimise operations in a virtual environment before implementing them in the real world.

Today, this technology is used in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, infrastructure and urban planning. “We have created a virtual twin of Jaipur city in collaboration with the state,” says Deepak NG, MD, Dassault Systemes India. The company creates software for 3D design, simulation, and data management. He speaks to Sudhir Chowdhary on the company’s focus areas and growth strategy. Excerpts:

In which sectors in the country can Dassault add value?

India’s key growth drivers are transportation and mobility, particularly automotive followed by aerospace and defence, and industrial equipment. Among the 11 industries and 60+ segments we support, these remain our strongest contributors in India. Our strategy is built around three macroeconomic spheres — manufacturing, infrastructure, and life sciences & healthcare covering industries such as aerospace, mobility, energy and pharmaceuticals.
