STUDENTS at a specialist college 'behave impeccably,' according to a glowing Ofsted report which has judged the facility to be outstanding in all areas.
Inspectors who visited Oakwood Specialist College in March and awarded it the top grade for overall effectiveness, as well as for the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and provision for learners with high needs.
The specialist college, run by Phoenix Learning and Care Ltd, provides specialist provision for people aged 16 to 25 designed to meet the needs of those with learning difficulties and disabilities, including autism, social, emotional and mental health conditions and complex behaviour.
It operates across three campuses, including Dawlish. At the time of inspection, there were 62 students at the Dawlish campus, 35 at Torpoint near Plymouth and 32 at Yate, South Gloucestershire.
All students are day learners and study on highly individualised courses designed to meet the specific needs outlined in their education, health and care plans.
The report offers unqualified praise for the learning experience.
"Learners are highly engaged and productive," inspectors wrote.
