Five welcome points is something to smile about

>>> A hint of a smile from Rob Baxter? Maybe...

THE records will show a 42-14 victory for Exeter Chiefs over Northampton Saints, the current Premiership Champions.

Add to the mix, five welcome league points to bring a little more respectability to the table and put the smile back on Rob Baxter's face so yes Sunday was not a bad day for our Chiefs.

Bottom line, we put 42 points on the club who will compete in the European Champions Cup final in a fortnight and what was, on the day, Premiership opposition.

Regardless of their six debutants, that was the best Northampton could put out and Chiefs secured their fourth try scoring bonus of the term.

Nevertheless, Rob didn't hold back in his assessment of the game and truth be told, it's hard to disagree with him.

The Chiefs team has all the potential in the world, but it just hasn't clicked this term. Sometimes the caring thing is tell someone the truth they aren't keen to hear rather than a lie to make them feel good and he gave a very 'caring' review post-match.

I remain staunch in my belief the squad are not far off the levels of the past but a bit more confidence and steel is needed to make that step and in Rob we trust!
