MORE police officers will be on the beat in Devon and Cornwall paid for by a £4.7 million grant from the Home Office.

The neighbourhood policing grant which aims to help rebuild the connection between police and the public that is key to securing their trust and confidence, will see an additional 45 police officers deployed into neighbourhood teams and an extra 55 police community support officers recruited for Devon and Cornwall Police, along with 10 special constable volunteers.

It will also fund extra investment in recruitment and associated costs.
