SHARES in Shell were energised today after it pointed to higher production in the third quarter into the looming winter weather
The second biggest company on the FTSE 100 made a record annual profits of almost $40 billion (£33 billion) for 2022, fuelled by soaring energy prices after Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. This sparked a wave of public anger and accusations of profiteering, as households struggled with the cost-of-living crisis and surging inflation, led by higher gas, electricity and petrol prices.
