Schools in capital face £188m cuts to their spending power'

DATA from online learning organisation MyTutor found that more than a quarter of London school leaders said they could no longer afford to provide catch-up learning, despite 89 per cent of teachers saying their students have gaps in their knowledge as a result of the Covid pandemic.

LONDON schools face cuts of more than £188 million to their spending power with those in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Southwark the worst affected, new figures suggest.

Schools in the capital will have £177 less to spend per pupil next year, according to data from the School Cuts campaign. The figures estimate spending power after increases in teacher salaries, pensions, tax and non-staff costs have been taken into account.
