To make the most of your Individual Savings Account, be sure to pay in before 5 April
The annual countdown has begun again. Time is fast running out to make the most of this year’s Individual Savings Account (ISA) allowance. You only have until midnight on 5 April to use your £20,000 allocation before the opportunity is lost, as extensions aren’t allowed.
Deposits made after this deadline will count towards the 2024-2025 tax year allocation and potentially be affected by the new ISA reforms.
Here is our overview of ISAs, the potential benefits of opening one, and some of the changes coming into force in the upcoming tax year.
WHAT IS AN ISA?
An ISA is a tax-efficient wrapper that shields savings and investments from being taxed. This means holders don’t pay income or capital gains tax on returns made.
There are four types of ISA: cash ISAs; stocks and shares ISAs; innovative finance ISAs; and Lifetime ISAs. All offer potentially lucrative tax benefits.
