Financial sector rally leads FTSE to fourth day running of gains
Evening Standard
|March 30, 2023
A SUSTAINED rebound across much of the financial sector kept the FTSE 100 on course for its fourth successive day of gains, as confidence continued to flow back into the market.
London’s main stock index added almost 40 points to 7603.36, taking it back toward its best levels of the month, seen before worries about the financial health of banks hit the sector and stoked a wider sell-off.
As those fears continued to ease, Barclays added more than 3p to 145p and Lloyds rose 1p to 48p. Insurers and property stocks made gains alongside the sustained advance for some banks. Real estate investment trust Segro rose 19p to 752p, with major West End landlord Land Securities up 14p at 611p. Prudential gained 24p to 1113p.
