Swinney will work for votes despite Labour abstention

Finance Secretary Shona Robison will present the Budget to Holyrood today. First Minister John Swinney said the NHS is a priority for the government.

The First Minister insisted he was still keen to "work with others" and "create common ground" around the proposals, which will be unveiled to MSPs by Finance Secretary Shona Robison at Holyrood today.

Mr Swinney said the Budget for 2026-27 would be focused on helping families struggling with the cost-of-living crisis, and providing "strong investment" for the NHS.
