Colvend woman slams the handling of compensation claim after her vehicle's tyre damaged by pothole on road

My pothole claim being hindered by ridiculous process at the council

Filled in The potholes near Dalbeattie now

A Colvend woman has hit out over the "ridiculous" process drivers face when making claims about pothole damage to their cars.

Carolyn Hornblow had to fork out for a new tyre after her Toyota Corolla car struck a deep pothole near Dalbeattie on the night of December 11.

The 73-year-old and her passenger made it home in the pitch dark and the damaged tyre had to be replaced at Stewartry Tyres a few days later, leaving Carolyn with an £87 garage bill.

However, the driver has since been locked in a wrangle with Dumfries and Galloway Council and its insurers after submitting a compensation claim.

She said: "I already filled out a form with the council regarding this pothole and then-a month after the incident-there was a ridiculous list of questions/requirements from the council's insurance company.
