Call for county council to let town buy library
Dover Express
|February 05, 2026
FOLKESTONE Town Council has formally approached Kent County Council with a proposal to buy the freehold of the Grace Hill Library for a "nominal sum", in an attempt to save one of the town's most iconic landmarks.
Folkestone library is on the market
The town council's resolution, passed on January 22, marks a new chapter in the fight for the empty Edwardian building, and comes just weeks after the county authority voted to sell the property at auction, following the rejection of a previous proposal by Creative Folkestone last October.
