Your votes crowned this cafe as the best in the whole of Derbyshire

A FEW months ago, the Derby Telegraph asked its readers to crown the best cafe in the county as part of the Derbyshire Dines awards.

Thousands and thousands of votes later, one business celebrated a landslide victory, with over 2,300 residents voting in their favour.

Cool River Cafe in Matlock was crowned winner and thanked its “incredible” community, one I got to experience firsthand during my visit.

Despite the rainy weather, the cafe was already filled with laughter when I arrived shortly after it opened in the morning.

After being greeted warmly by a waitress, I chose a cosy table by the window - perfect for people-watching.
