Wetherspoon pub closes after rats spotted on CCTV

COUNCIL HEALTH INSPECTORS PAID VISIT AFTER A CUSTOMER SAW RODENT RUNNING AROUND THE PUB
A DERBYSHIRE Wetherspoon pub volunteered to close its doors after a rat was seen running around the premises - leaving gnawed carpet in the seating area and faeces in the cellar.
Amber Valley Borough Council's environmental health officers visited the Wagon and Horses in King Street, Alfreton, on August 1, following a complaint from a customer regarding pest activity.
Upon request, CCTV from the pub showed a rat running across the carpet near the coffee machine in the pub, before jumping on a chair.
Inspectors said the rat was also visible as it poked its head up through the back of the chair before jumping down.
Another clip seen by inspectors shows a rat running across the carpet, stopping halfway, before running out of sight.
Despite the footage, when officers conducted an inspection both inside and outside the pub, no rodent activity was found inside.
