Plea to look again at travel arrangements as expansion of primary school is approved

A DERBY primary school is to expand despite concerns more pupils and staff will make traffic worse at a “chaotic” congestion hotspot.

Derby City Council has approved the construction of a new building at Springfield Primary School in Spondon.

The new building will consist of three classrooms for children with learning difficulties and several breakout rooms.

It will allow the West Road school to have 30 additional places solely for its SEND (special educational needs and disability) provision, as well as more staff.

Additional parking is also part of the plans, with an 13 more spaces in the pipeline, as well as three pupil drop-off spaces.
