Council areas top the scales when it comes to obesity rate

ONE AREA IN THE COUNTY IS RANKED THIRD IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY WITH NEARLY 38% OBESE

THREE areas of Derbyshire - including Derby city are estimated to have at least a third of adults living with obesity, with one ranked third across the whole of the country.

While Bolsover's estimated obese population is less than it was five years ago, its figure of 37.9 per cent was still high enough to put it behind only West Lindsey in neighbouring Lincolnshire (38.8%) and Hartlepool (37.9%).

Amber Valley (36.6%) is also in the top 19, while Derby is at 33%.

The estimates have been published by the Office for Health Improvement & Disparities (OHID), using data from the Sport England Active Lives Adult Survey.

The entire top 10 are located either in the Midlands, Yorkshire or the North East.
